I’ve been looking into university recently, as well as my college options for next year. After my trip into Wales last weekend (Cardiff is amazing, seriously, it’s the city of my dreams), I think I’ve settled on applying for both Cardiff University, probably for something like psychology, philosophy, something like that, and Cardiff Art And Design College. The idea of living and studying in Cardiff for three years is like a dream come true, but there’s only one problem. I don’t know what to study.
You see, I know I have artistic skill, I’m not going to lie and be modest about it, I can paint quite well, and I’ve got serious drive and ambition to really put my mind to it and want to succeed. Add to that the fact that I’m not exactly dumb, hell, I do maths, physics and chemistry A-Levels! So, something in business is where I should be aiming for.
I have a real eye for design, I know what goes and what doesn’t, and I have a way of thinking logically about stuff, so if I am to go down the artistic route in terms of higher education, it wouldn’t be with the end sight in working for somebody else, with no say in anything, no, I’d want to work for myself, and as the idea of owning my own business has appealed to me for ages and ages, that seems like a worthwhile goal. So, if that’s where I’m heading, I still need to focus my educational path even more. This is because, if you venture over to the CAADC course listing, there are a list of courses you can take.
- Architectural Design And Technology
- Fine Art
- Graphic Communication
- Interior Architecture
- Artist Designer:Maker
- Product Design
I don’t really know a lot about the courses, as the website insists on using the longest wording ever for everything, and most of what they say seems to be identical for each course. The ones that I’ve found interesting by what little I can discover from the website have to be Fine Art, which seems remarkably similar to what I’ve been doing at GCSE and A-Level, Graphic Communication, Artist Designer:Maker, which the website is so unclear on it could either be the best thing ever for me, or hellish, and Textiles, which would be a way into the textiles industry, which would be fun, and would allow me to start a business, and all them goals, but seems a little gay cliché.
So, if anybody has any information that could help me, or if any of my readers are also aspiring to go into the artistic and creative sector, please leave a comment below and we can share stories and information!
